Tonight we are in the Corps of Engineers “campground” just below the John Day Dam on the Columbia River. I just sat here in the passenger seat watching down river at a beautiful sunset with the sun going down behind the canyon wall viewed through the pine trees. Gorgeous! Last night I was up by Port Angeles watching the Olympic Range try to peak out of the rain clouds with snow levels down to 6000 feet. That was really a cool view too. One of the joys of full timing is the ever changing view out the front windshield.
This evening after we pulled in here I was so inspired to write beautiful things about all the views and sights we have been having and then by the time I get the computer up and running I’ve forgotten what I was going to write. Crud.
We had a beautiful visit with Annie. I’ll back fill some of the photos tomorrow or the next day. When we walked through what in reality is a rain forest in the rain, the shine on the plants and the glistening drops falling off the pine needles was almost enough to make me just stay and watch all day.

Anne reminded me right after my last post that I really missed our favorite photo of the whole hike. I had to make another post to show this photo and some more.
This root formed pools on this branch of the trail. There was a little bit of a bypass and I almost missed this. A really good photographer on this day would have made a prize winner out of this. This photo has been my desk top for months and month. I love it!
As you can even more clearly see from these photos, it was damp but the foliage was purely spectacular for the whole hike.
This photo was taken at Neah Bay Point.

Another Backfill post. After our series of meetings in Pendleton we went down the Columbia River and roundabout up to Anne’s at Port Angeles. While there Anne and took a hike /drive out to Neah Bay and to Shi Shi Beach. The Rain drizzled all day long and only a couple of good pancho’s saved our day. The lush tropical rain forest and the glistening leaves of vegatation were so beautiful. The weather made the ocean and beach a restless monster of motion and majesty. It was spectacular.
On the drive back we spotted this eagle out on some rocks in the water. He was posing for us.
